Originally from the Serre-Chevalier valley, Benoît started downhill skiing at the age of three. 

He switched to cross-country skiing at the age of 12, joining the local club and then the Hautes-Alpes Pôle Espoir. He has won several podium places in the French Nordic Ski Cup and has taken part in an O.P.A. Alpine Cup.

Away from the slopes, he is passionate about sport, fishing and cycling. He is also a director of SO.SNOOC.
